BSS, Dhaka :The body of MA Aziz, acting president of Dhaka City Awami League (AL), who breathed his last yesterday morning (Saturday) due to a cardiac failure, was buried at Azimpur graveyard at night after his second Namaj-e-Janaza at Alia Madrasha ground after Esha prayers.Earlier, the first Namaj-e-Janaza of the late AL leader was held in front of party central office at Bangabandhu Avenue after Magreb prayers.Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, Dhaka City AL general secretary Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram), Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, AL leader Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Dhaka University vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam, Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sayeed Khokon, AL labour affairs Habibur Rahman Siraj, Barrister Fazle Noor Tapas, MP, Haji Md Selim, MP, Dhaka City AL organising secretary Shahe Alam Murad and Awami Juba League chairman Omar Faruque Chowdhury, among others, attended the Namaj-e-Janaza.After his Namaj-e-Janaza, leaders of different parties and organisations placed wreaths on his coffin paying deep homage to the late AL leader. MA Aziz breathed his last due to a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital at the age of 68.He left behind three sons, a host of relatives, well-wishers and admirers to mourn his death.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a visit to MA Aziz’s residence on Hossainy Dalan Road at 4 pm. At that time, the Prime Minister talked with bereaved family, consoled them, expressed her deep sympathy and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of the late AL leader.In separate condolence messages, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at the demise of MA Aziz.Besides, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, AL Advisory Council member Amir Hossain Amu, presidium member Mohammad Nasim, general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, LGRD Minister Engineer Khondker Mosharraf Hossain, Information Minister and JSD president Hasanul Haq Inu and Science and Technology Minister Architect Yafes Osman conveyed deep shock and sorrow at the demise of MA Aziz.MA Aziz had been discharging his responsibilities as the acting president of Dhaka City AL for the past eight years. In 2003 when former mayor of Dhaka City Mohammad Hanif was elected as the president of Dhaka City AL, MA Aziz was chosen as the vice-president of that committee.After the demise of Mohammad Hanif in 2007, MA Aziz had been entrusted with responsibilities as the acting president of Dhaka City unit of the ruling Awami League. Although the triennial council of Dhaka City AL was held in 2012, MA Aziz had to discharge his duties as its acting president as the new committee had not been constituted as yet. MA Aziz was the general secretary of Mozaffar Hossain Paltu-led Dhaka City AL in early 80s.
