AL lawmaker Fazle Karim Chowdhury tests positive for Covid-19

ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, the Awami League lawmaker from Chattogram-6 (Raozan) constituency, tested Covid-19 positive on Monday night.
Fazle Karim, also chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on railways ministry, fell ill in the morning on Monday and gave a sample at Raozan Upazila Health Complex, said Ehsanul Haider Chowdhury Babul, chairman of Raozan upazila parishad.
His sample was sent to the laboratory at Chittagong University for coronavirus test and the result came positive at night, Babul added.
The AL lawmaker remains in isolation at his house and is receiving treatment there, he added.
Fazle Karim took part in the programmes on National Mourning Day in the upazila on August 15, according to sources.
Contacted, Raozan Upazila Nirbahi Officer Junaid Kabir Sohag told our Chattogram correspondent that all the participants at the programme organised by upazila administration maintained physical distancing.
“We asked everyone who joined the political programme to go for isolation for 14 days,” he said.
