Voicing deep concern over the recent spate in killings abductions and forced disappearances, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Saturday alleged that government is running the country like Hitler and Mussolini.
“The Awami League government is running the country like Hitler and Mussolini… The government has failed to stop the incidents of enforced disappearance, killing and abduction. No one had been killed and made disappeared during my rule,” he said.
The Jatiya Party chief further said: “The country is passing through a tough time. We hear about
democracy and constitution, but where his democracy? What type of country it is where people can’t even sleep in peace? Bodies are floating in rivers. Democracy is now mere a slogan, not in practice.”
Ershad, also a special envoy to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, made the remarks while addressing a general meeting of Jatiya Jubo Sanghati at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh.
