Kalabagan Thana Awami Swechchhasebok League (SL) president, the same thana Juba League (JL) secretary, and an employee of Awami League, political office at Dhanmondi, were injured in a clash on Friday evening on the office premises, sources said.
The clash happened at 6.10 pm after the end of a joint meeting between the AL Dhaka city leaders and the AL MPs. Party’s Joint-General Secretary Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif summoned the meeting to decide the party leaders and workers’ activities on January 5 and 6 programmes.
At the end of a press briefing, office employee Biplob asked the Kalabagan Thana Swechchhasebok League president to vacate the office, but he refused and demanded explanation from him. At this stage, the two exchanged hot words. At that time, Kalabagan thana Juba League secretary sided with the SL president while other office employees actively supported Biplob.
Later, AL Central committee office secretary Abdus Sobhan and AL political
office executive Shamim interfered and brought the situation under control. They appealed to all the AL leaders and workers not to fight among themselves and to remain vigilant against all kinds of provocation.
