The two factions of ruling Awami League( AL) clashed in Pakundia town of Kishoreganj on Victory Day celebration turned into a battlefield on Thursday.
At least 15 people were injured and at one stage, miscreants set fire to a passenger bus. Former IGP Noor Mohammad MP and Pakundia Upazila AL president and former MP Sorabuddin’s supporters took part in the clash. Additional police have been deployed in the area.
According to local sources, Noor Mohammad MP Pakundia paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Upazila Parishad around 9:15 am on Thursday. Later he led the victory procession. The procession ended at the Pakundia High School ground on the occasion of the Great Victory Day. There he hoisted the national flag. After receiving greetings on the stage and inspected the parade by Noor Mohammad MP Pakundia Upazila Parishad Chairman, Rafiqul Islam Renu, UNO Rozlin Shahid Chowdhury and OC Sarwar Jahan.
