Ruling Awami League does not believe in free and fair polls, said BNP standing committee member and former Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
The BNP leader told it on Wednesday at a programme organized by Swadhinata Forum demanding Khaleda Zia’s release.
He said, AL are enjoying all kinds of facilities including arranging meeting anywhere in Bangladesh. Prime Minister is taking commitment from the people in her meeting, which is opposite to the spirit of Constitution. Everybody
has right to cast vote secretly. When the BNP wants to hold meeting, permission is not given. The government has not yet responded to the party’s letter about arranging meeting at the Suhrawardy Uddyan on March 12. No permission has yet been given in Khulna and Chittagong also.
He said, today in Bangladesh there is no rule of law, freedom of speech, freedom of media. All kinds of rights are questionable.
He said, our leader Khaleda Zia spoke for the people. For that she is now imprisoned. She will never surrender.
