BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the nation is disappointed in the Awami League national council as it lacks guidance to overcome the crisis.
“There was no direction for the nation. Even the ruling party could not find a way out of democracy,” he said this while addressing reporters after a Milad and Doa Mahfil at the BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan in the city on Saturday.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “Awami League is trying to build a state without democracy by completely ignoring the Constitution. This matter also came up during the council session. That is why the nation is disappointed.”
“They have failed to provide any guidance to overcome the economic, social and political crisis of Bangladesh,” he added.
Fakhrul added, “Awami League is moving towards establishing a one-party rule for the last one decade.”
Responding to a query about BNP’s council, he said, since the political culture is very hostile, we are not getting any space to do any political activities.
The BNP leader said, “We are not allowed to hold councils in most places, especially in different districts and upazilas.”
“However, we are trying to organize the party under the leadership of acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman. In the meantime, we will try to hold the council,” he said.
