11th National Parliamentary election: AL conquers in Sylhet as Oikyafront got one seat

People of Sylhet have placed their trust in Awami League’s Boat symbol to maintain the continuation of the development in 11th parliamentary elections. In the elections held on Sunday, Awami League candidates won five out of six parliamentary seats in Sylhet.
In Sylhet-1 seat, Boat’s candidate Dr AK Abdul Momen unofficially won by a huge margin with getting 3,01,002 votes while his nearest Paddy Sheath candidate Khandokar Abdul Muktadir got 1,21,019 votes.
In Sylhet-2 seat, there was no candidate from Awami League, so Jatiya Party from the Grand Alliance contested from this seat. Rising Sun symbol of the Gonoforum won this seat by defeating the Plough symbol. Rising Sun symbol’s Jatiya Oikyafront of Gonoforum leader Mokabbir Khan got 67,420 votes while independent candidate of Coconut symbol got 30,449 votes.
In Sylhet-3 seat, Awami League candidate Mahmudus Samad Chowdhury defeated BNP candidate Shafi Ahmad Chowdhury. Mahmudus Samad got 1,77,507 votes and Shafi Ahmed got 79,865 votes.
In Sylhet-4 seat, Awami League’s Imran Ahmed defeated BNP’s Dildar Hossain Selim. Imran Ahmed got 2,23,677 votes and Selim got 92,473 votes.
In Sylhet-5 seat, Boat symbol candidate Hafiz Ahmad Majumdar unofficially won by getting 2,07,191 votes while his nearest candidate BNP’s 20-party alliance Jamiate Ulamaye Islam Bangladesh’s Obaidullah Faruk got 1,38,960 votes.
In Sylhet-6 seat, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid again won by getting 1,96,015 votes while his nearest BNP’s candidate Foysal Ahmad Chowdhury got 1,08,089 votes.
Boat 3, Paddy Sheath 1 in M’bazar
In the 11th parliamentary elections, ‘Boat’ candidates have won three of the four constituencies of Moulvibazar district. ‘Paddy Sheath’ symbol has won in one constituency.
Awami League’s ‘Boat’ candidate Shahab Uddin won the Maulvibazar-1 (Borolekha, Juri) seat. He got 1,44,121 votes. His nearest rival, BNP’s ‘Paddy Sheath’ candidate received 68,523 votes.
In the Maulvibazar-2 (Kulaura) constituency, ‘Paddy Sheath’ symbol candidate Sultan Md Monsur Ali won with 79,782 votes. His nearest rival, ‘Boat’ symbol candidate MM Sahin got 77,147 votes.
In Maulvibazar-3 (Maulvibazar, Rajnagar) constituency, Awami League candidate Nessar Ahmed won with 1,84,579 votes. His nearest rival ‘Paddy Sheath’ symbol candidate Naser Rahman received 1,04,595 votes.
In Maulvibazar-4 (Srimangal, Kamalganj) constituency, Awami League candidate Abdus Sahid won with 2,14,303 votes. His nearest rival ‘Paddy Sheath’ symbol candidate Mujibur Rahman got 94,369 votes.
Misbah wins Sunamganj-4
Pir Fazlur Rahman Misbah, won absolute victory with Plough symbol in Sunamganj-4 (Sunamganj Sadar, Biswamberpur) constituency.
In the counting of votes, he got a total of 1,37,289 votes. On the other hand, his nearest rival, Fazlul Haq Aspia, got 69 thousand 749 votes.
After the counting of voting from 8am to 4pm on Sunday, the returning officer of the district declared the results unofficially.
