Chittagong City Awami League (AL) and its front organisations Wednesday celebrated the 70th birthday of its President and Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a simple manner.
The programmes of the birthday celebration were curtailed at the death of reputed writer and celebrated litterateur Sayed Shamsul Haq.To mark the day, Chittagong city AL organized a discussion meeting at the Muslim Institute Hall the evening Former Mayor and President of Chittagong city Awami League A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury presided over the function while City Mayor and General Secretary of city AL A J M Nasir Uddin, Vice Chancellor of Premier University Dr Anupom Sen, Vice Presidents of Chittagong City AL Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, Noyeem Uddin Chowdhury, AL leaders – Bodiul Alam, Advocate Iftaker Saimul Chowdhury and panel mayor Hasan Mahmud Hasni, among others, addressed the function.
They prayed for long life of Sheikh Hasina, who is continuing her relentless efforts to bring smiles on the faces of the teeming millions by eradicating hunger, poverty and illiteracy. Chittagong South District AL organised a discussion meeting in its office with its President Muslem Uddin in the chair.

Special prayers were offered in all places of worships, including mosques, temple and monasteries, seeking her long life and sound health as well as continued peace and progress of the nation.
