Awami League candidate Rezaul Karim Razu has withdrawn his candidature from the by-polls to the Rangpur-3 constituency, which fell vacant after the death of Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad.
Razu, general secretary of the Rangpur district wing of AL, pulled out on the last day of nomination withdrawal, said Returning Officer Shahtab Uddin.
The by-election for the Rangpur- 3 constituency, which fell vacant following the death of HM Ershad, will be held on October 5.
Awami League nominated Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, general secretary of Rangpur district AL, JaPa nominated Rahgir Al Mahi alias Saad Ershad, eldest son of party founding chairman late HM Ershad, and BNP nominated Rita Rahman, chief of People’s Party of Bangladesh, an partner of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, to contest the upcoming by-polls.
