UZ polls: AL candidate declared winner after voting at 3 postponed centers at Hizla

Sultan Mahmud Tipu, upazila AL president and AL backed chairman candidate declared as winner after voting on Thursday at three postponed centers of Hizla upazila in Barisal.
Dulal Talukdar, district election and returning officer, said Tipu received 6,702 votes in 3 postponed centers and his total votes reached to 13,875 votes.
His nearest rival BNP backed candidate Dewan Shahidul Islam received only 13 votes and BNP rebel candidate Abdul Gaffar Talukdar received only 77 votes out of 9,027 in those three centers.
BNP backed candidates in Hizla upazila parishad boycotted election on Thursday morning after vote casting started at three postponed centers. The upazila BNP also announced Hartal on Sunday at the upazila.
BNP chairman candidate Shahidullah claimed he received highest vote in 27 out of 30 centers in the upazila while AL backed candidate Sultan Mahmud was fourth in the election race.
