S M Mizanur Rahman :The ruling Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will gear up their parties’ organisational activities after the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. While AL is going to announce the new committee for its Dhaka city unit within the current month, the BNP is framing strategy to turn around braving all odds.Talking to The New Nation on Saturday AL presidium member Nuh-Ul-Alam Lenin said they have attached the highest importance on rejuvenating the party’s organisational activities.”We have already completed councils and formed most of the district committees. The Dhaka city unit of AL, which remains pending for a long time, will be announced within the current month,” he said. He added as the party is gradually completing its district and other committees, it will now start gearing up the party’s organisational activities from grassroots to central level. Replying to a query he said, “It is very natural that when a party forms a government, its organisational activities decline. So, we want to come out from such culture in order to strengthen our party’s organisational activities.”According to party insiders, party President Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already discussed with them the issue of making new committee for Dhaka city. Two committees will be declared for the Dhaka north and south city units. After the formation of metropolitan unit committee, committees for Thana and ward units will be declared.Nuh-Ul-Alam Lenin said the 28th central council of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) will also be held on July 25 and 26.”When the central council of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) will be held, we will get young and dynamic leadership. They will play a vital role in gearing up the party’s organisational activities,” said the AL presidium member. On the other hand, BNP standing committee member lieutenant general (Rtd) Mahbubur Rahman said they are going for rejuvenating the party after the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. “Inshaallah we will be able to turn around braving all odds. It’s our challenge to face the ruling AL’s all misdeeds and misrules politically on the street. And we will do it,” he told The New Nation on Saturday.  Apart from the leaders and workers of BNP and its associate bodies, party chairperson Khaleda Zia is now busy with holding view-exchange meetings with different professional bodies to take their opinion, said another party leader.  “She (Khaleda) will restructure her party and its all associate bodies with dedicated, time-tested and potential leaders to make it dynamic in real sense. We took time as most of our front ranking leaders are languishing in jails across the country,” the BNP senior leader said. He said information about the leaders’ activities across the country is being gathered to place it before the party chairperson Khaleda Zia for their evaluation. He added that the streets would be heated up as the leaders and workers of BNP are adamant to give a befitting reply to what he termed the ‘fascist government’, which is now trying to destroy the BNP.Leaders and workers from grassroots to central have already lost their hope as the party’s non-stop three months (January to March) blockade, along side hartal, made the party controversial. As many senior party leaders, including acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossian, are in jail, the mental strength of grassroots leaders has already broken down.
