The mayor candidates of AL and BNP will expend most while the BSD candidate will expend least in upcoming fourth BCC election scheduled to be held on July 30, 2018. Sources of their expenses stated as personal income, financial help and loan from relatives, family members and friends.
However, none of them shown any expense of propagation through audio-visual and electronic media.
Mujibur Rahman, the returning officer of BCC election, confirmed the report according to the submitted self-statement (halafnama) of the seven mayor candidates of BCC election.
He said highest limit of expenses of BCC mayor candidates approved as Tk 15 lakhs per candidate.
Mojibor Rahman Sarwar, BNP led 20-party alliance nominated mayor candidate and Serniabad Sadik Abdullah, AL led 14-party alliance nominated mayor candidate stated that they will expend all expenses within the highest limit sanctioned by EC for this election.
Sarwar said source of his expense would be personal income and savings, hover Sadik said his personal income and Tk 7 lakhs and 4 lakhs would be given as donations from father Abul Hasanat Abdullah and brother Serniabad Moin Abdullah to supply the money.
Sarwar told he will print 3 lakhs posters and 1.5 lakhs leaflets and open 30 offices in 30 wards of BCC. However no entertainment cost would be given to the workers.
On other hand, Sadik will print 50 thousand copies of poster, 4 lakh copies of leaflet and open 11 election camp offices expending Tk. 6.3 lakhs without any costing for the workers in 18 days.
The third highest expenditure of Tk. 12 lakhs would be expended by JaPa (Ershad) nominated mayor candidate Iqbal Hossain Tapos to bear his election expenditure including propagation and operating camp offices.
Retired Prof. AKM Mahbub Alam, Khelafat Majlish nominated mayor candidate, in his halafnama said his election expenses would be highest Tk.6.85 lakhs collected from Tk 50 thousand from personal fund, Tk. 2.5 lakhs from contribution of the workers, rest Tk 3.85 lakhs as loan from his family members, friends and relatives.
