AL, BNP activists clash in Nayapaltan

A group of Awami League men clashed with BNP activists in front of the BNP central office at Nayapaltan in the capital hours after voting of the Dhaka North and the South City Corporations ended on Saturday.
However, there was no report of injury.
Witnesses said, the disquiet began when some Awami League activists brought out a procession and were passing by the BNP office around 5:30 pm chanting slogans, “Bhua, bhua” fake.
In the meantime, some BNP men from its office chanted counter-slogans, triggering a chase and counter-chase between them in the evening and exchange of brick chips. On information, a police team rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
However, the two Dhaka City Corporations election began at 8am and concluded at 4pm without any break.
Meanwhile, pointing to the irregularities talking place in the city polls, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fkhrul Islam Alamgir called for observing hartal today from down to dusk.
