Poura elections: AL bags all mayoral posts

Awami League nominees for mayoral race clinch victory in all 10 municipal committee election of Chittagong district . The election was held on Wednesday across the country including Chittagong district.
Candidates from major political party BNP and other parties were defeated by the AL candidates.
Meanwhile BNP, Chittagong monitoring cell leaders declines the result of the poura election and demanded reelection in these pourasabhas accusing massive vote rigging and domination of vote centres by the ruling party cadres.
Deputy commissioner of Chittagong Mesbahuddin told the media that except Chandanaish, peacefull vote casting held in other 9 pourashavas . District police super Hafiz Akher said one tragic incident occurred ouside the polling centre in Satkania where one person was killed .
The elected Poura Mayors are- Devashish Palit in Raozan, Shahjahan Siker in Rangunia, Md. Jobair in Satkania, Mahbubul Alam Khoka in Chandanaish, Prof. Harunur Rashid in Patiya, Badiul Alam in Satkania, Giasuddin in Mirsarai, Jafarullah in Sandwip, Nizamuddin in Baraiarhat of Mirsarai upazila, district EC office sources said.
Cops, informer remanded in gold snatching case : A court here on Tuesday placed three persons including two policemen on three-day remand each in a case filed in connection with the snatching of 103 tolas of gold from a jewellery trader here.
Those remanded are Assistant Sub-Inspector of Enayet Bazar police camp Mizanur Rahman and Constable Khan A Alam and police informer Al-Amin.
Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Rahmat Ali passed the order after Kotwali police produced them before the court seeking a five-day remand for each, said Assistant Commissioner (prosecution) Qazi Muttakin Ibn Minar.
On December 15, police arrested the trio for their alleged involvement in the gold snatching case. Police also recovered three gold bars from their possessions.
On September 21, miscreants using a motorcycle intercepted an auto-rickshaw carrying jewellery trader Dolon Bishwash in the port city’s New Market area on his way to the BRTC bus stand and snatched 103 tolas of gold, including some gold bars, from him.
Later, the victim filed a case against three unknown persons with the Kotwali Police Station.
