AL bags 8 out of 12 chairman posts in Satkania

The seventh phase of Union Parishad (UP) elections in Chittagong has ended with the loss of two lives. In this phase, out of 16 UPs of Satkania Upazila, 4 were elected unopposed as chairmen but elections were held in 12 of them.
The Awami League candidate has won in 8 of them and the independent candidate has won in 4 of them.Occupying the center, snatching ballot papers and exchanging fire between the two sides since the polling started at 8 am on Monday (February 7). Two were killed in Bajalia and Nalua unions.
The results were announced later in the night after the counting of votes.The elected unopposed in four unions are- Md. Kenochia Union, Osman Ali, Mohammad Selim Uddin in Satkania Sadar Union, AFM Mahabubul Haque Sikder in Purangarh Union and Abu Naeem Mohammad Selim in Madarsha Union.
The winning candidates in the election are- Awami League candidate in Charati Union Md. Ruhullah Chowdhury, Amilaish Union rebel candidate Mozammel Haque Chowdhury, Awami League candidate in Nalua Union.
Leyakat Ali, Awami League candidate Ramzan Ali in Kanchana Union, Awami League candidate in Khagaria Union. Akhtar Hossain, Awami League candidate in Kaliaish Union Hafez Ahmed, Independent candidate in Dhemsha Union Mirza Aslam Sarwar Rimon, Awami League candidate in Dharmapur Union Nasir Uddin Tipu, Awami League candidate in Bajalia Union Tapas Kanti Dutta, Independent candidate in West Dhemsha Union Riduanul Islam Sumon Candidate Morshedur Rahman and Sonakania Union boat symbol candidate Jasim Uddin has won.
