AL-backed yellow panel wins CU syndicate polls

The ruling Awami League-backed yellow Panel has won the majority posts in the elections to the Syndicate, Finance Committee, Academic Council and Dean in the Chittagong University (CU) on Sunday.
The panel has won 13 seats among the total of 18 posts in the elections while the BNP-Jamaat supported white panel won three posts and the independent candidates in remaining two posts.
A total of 697 teachers have exercised their franchise among the total number of 716 teachers.
The elected persons are Dr. Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury in the Professor post and Tanvir Muhammad Haider in Associate post, Masum Ahmed in Assistant Professor post and Rajib Acharjya in Lecturer post in the Syndicate.
Dr. M Abul Hussain, in Social Science Faculty, Dr. M Sekander Chowdhury in Arts Faculty, Dr. M Abdul Karim in Science Faculty, Dr. Jahangir Alam in BUsiness Management Faculty, DR. Abdullah Al Faruk in Law Faculty, Dr. M Mahbubur Rahman in Biology Faculty, Dr. Shankar Lal Saha in Enginering Faculty, have been elected Deans.
Dr Ranjit Kumar Chowdhury has been elected in Finance Committee unopposed.
Dr AKM Rejaur Rahman and AHM Rakibul Mowla have been elected unopposed to the Academic Council from Associate Professor category; Dr. Faisal Islam Chowdhury and Muhammad Sheikh Saadi have been elected from the Assistant Professor Category; Muhammad Mohiuddin Chowdhury and Muhammad Mohiuddin have been elected from Lecturer Category.
