AL activists beaten, one chopped to death in Morrelganj

Abdus Salam Sardar (40), an Awami League activist of Ranmchandrapur Union and son of one late Erfan Uddin Sardar of village Choto Kumarkhali within Ramchandrapur Union Parishad under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat and 10 others of the same village were injured, 4 seriously when the opponents beat them with lethal weapons and inflicted cut injuries on their person with sharp knives in the village by their opponents in the early hours on Wednesday .
The injured persons are Mozam Sardar (50), Ismail Sardar 50), Lokman Sardar (40), Rakib Sardar (14) Shamim Sardear (24), Rina Begum, Zannati Begum (12), Reksona Begum and Manju Begum (30) .
 Locals said , an strong enmity and rivalry had been prevailing between Molla family and Sardar family of the village had been prevailing over land properties and establishing the supremacy in the localities.
 Following the enmity and rivalry in the early hours on Wednesday, the members of the Molla family armed with various weapons attacked 4 dwelling houses belonging to the members of Sardar family, ransacked the houses and beat mercilessly the inmates with lethal weapons and inflicted cur injuries on their person.
 As a result, about 10 persons of Sardar family were injured, 5 seriously. Seriously injured Abdus Salam Sardar, Mozam Sardar, Ismail Sardar, Lokman Sardar and Rakib Sardar were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for their treatment. But Salam Sardar succumbed to his injuries on his on the way to the hospital. But other injured persons were admitted to Morrelganj Upazila Health Complex for their treatment.
Police of Morrelganj PS already visited the place of occurrence. Police are trying their best to arrest those who are responsible for this carnage.
It may be mentioned here that deceased Abdus Salam Sardar was an witness of a murder case.
