A period of nearly one-and-a-half decade has elapsed since Akij Cement Company of Akij Group of industrial conglomerate started marketing Akij brand of cement on the 3rd of November 2002 last. Akij cement succeeded in winning confidence and popularity among the users within a short period of its going to the market. To turn credibility into confidence Akij Cement emerged to be the first cement industry in Bangladesh to use ultra-modern VRM (vertical roller mill) method of German origin. It is the first cement produced with VRM system in Bangladesh, is the ultra-fine fly-ash free cement. The capacity of its clinker storing silo is 50,000 metric tons, its capacity of containing fine cement is 22,000 metric tons, its daily production capacity is 4,100 metric tons or 82,000 bags, its raw materials are imported by own ships, the production capacity of its own captive power plant is 10.65 megawatt, the production capacity of its own biodegradable Austrian cement bag production plant is 35 lakh bags per month, its plant area is 32.50 acres of land, it has a fully software base cement distribution network and a healthy environment of 150 drivers and a 400-truck landing capacity station.
