AK Khan Economic Zone inaugurated in Narsingdi

The first private Inland Container Terminal, river port and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) over 200 acres of land on the bank of Shitalakhha river at Dhanga industrial zone in Polash upazila of Narsingdi on Sunday at a total cost of 70 million dollar.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Economic Zone through video conference from Bangabondhu International Conference Centre.
In this purpose AK Khan Company Ltd arranged a gathering at the site of Economic Zone at Dang of Polash Upazila Narsingdi.
Local MP Kamrul Ashraf Khan Potan locally inaugurated the economic zone unveiling the stone. Former MP Dr Anwarul Ashraf Khan Dilip, DC Narsingdi, Abu Hena Morhsed Zaman, SP Amena Begum (BPM), Polash upazila Chairman Sayed Jabed Hossain, UNO Mahmuda Akter, Mayor of Ghorashal Shoriful Hoque , General Manager of Logistics Shipping and port and project Director Shahadat Hossain of the company .
Talking to New Nation Correspondent MD of AK Khan Company Ltd Salahuddin Kashem Khan recently said, the project has taken on 2007 and construction work of the project began from November 2008 after purchasing of land for the project  
He said the construction of industrial zone in Narsingdi would help to ensure vigorous development of the remote areas. The businessmen of Tangi Gajipur Saver and Narsingdi have been transported their garments goods from Dhaka to Chittagong by railway wagon from long time. In this they have to cost a big amount of money and wastage of time to carry their goods. After inauguration of the project (Economic Zone) the businessmen then easily can transport their business items Dhaka to Chittagong by the company’s own ship at small cost and it will save their time.
On the other hand the project would create over 10000 employment opportunities in the industrial zone.. At this it will help to develop the socio-economic condition of the rural people.
General Manager of AK Khan & Company Ltd. Aktar Hossain also recently said, Japanees Ambassador in Bangladesh Shiro Sadoshima after receiving invitation from Ak Khan &Company visited the site of Bangladesh’s first private Reveries Inland Container Terminal at Danga in Narsingdi on October-2012 and said Japan is planning to make large investments in a number of Asian countries including Bangladesh, He said the construction and development work of the project will be completed and the enter project work will be started from 2017.
