Of the two releases on Friday past, Airlift and Kya Kool Hain Hum 3, the former got itself the bigger piece of the pie, while the latter, a sex comedy franchise, scraped through with almost half the numbers.
Airlift, which had 2600 screens to its name, got off to a great start with 35 per cent occupancies in the opening shows. Garnering swell reviews and great word of mouth, collections picked up in the evening and the film closed its first day at Rs 12.35 crore in earnings. Facing an expected growth of 35 per cent, the Akshay Kumar starrer earned Rs 14.60 crore on Saturday, followed by a further growth of 45 per cent on Sunday, leading to collections of Rs 17.35 crore.
