Sharjah-based airline, airarabia, which was launched some twelve years ago in 2003 with only two aircraft now flies to and from 101 destinations with its 40-aircraft fleet. Starting its journey to and from Dhaka in 2006-three years after its launching airarabia now has the highest number of flights to and from Dhaka. With five to six flights to and from Dhaka everyday, Airarabia’s weekly flights to and from Dhaka stand at 38 to 40 which is the highest number of flights operated by any foreign airline through this route.
With its 170-seat (having 32-inch leg space each) economy class brand new aircraft Airbus A 320 aircraft airarabia operates Dhaka-Sharjah service en-route to Middle Eastern countries at lowest fares compared to others operating air services in the route.
airarabia’s low fare destinations are Istanbul, Cairo, Alexandria, Moscow, Nairobi, Amman and Tiblisi.
“At the moment, all our Dhaka-Sharjah flights go full” said an official of One World, the GSA (belonging to MGH Group) of airarabia while talking to the Daily New Nation on September 3 (Thursday) last.
Asked about profits earned or losses incurred by Airarabia in the last two years, he said, “In 2013 airarabia earned net profits of AED 435 million which is equivalent to Taka 913.5 crore and in 2014 it increased to AED 566 million which is equivalent to Taka 1,088.6 crore.”
