Agricultural Minister Abdur Razzak MP said Haor produces sufficient amount of paddy, which is very important for food security in the country. But sometimes it is very risky. Some years it is destroyed due early floods. We are working to reduce this risk. Emphasis is being given to cultivate varieties of paddy that ripened 15–20 days ago.
Besides, combine harvesters and ripens are being given priority in haor for quick harvesting of paddy considering the labor crisis.
Later, Minister inaugurated the paddy harvester and distributed ‘combined harvester and reaper’ among the farmers.
The minister also said that the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is agriculture and farmer friendly.This is way the government is very generously giving various incentives to the farmers including fertilizers,seeds and irrigation to benefit agriculture and improve the living of standards of the farmers
Agri Minister Abdur Razzak MP visited the Mitamoion Haor areas and exchanged views with local peoples at Mitamoion upazila auditorium on Sunday noon. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohamad Shamim Alam presided over the meeting.
It was addressed among others by Rejowan Ahamed Tofique MP, Former IGP & Sr. Secretary Noor Mohammed MP, Senior Secretary Mesbaul Islam, BADC Chairman Dr. Amit Sarker, DG of Agriculture Extension Department (AED) Dr. Md. Asadullah and BARI DG Dr. Shajaham Kabir.
Police Super ( SP) in Kishoreganj Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM ( Bar), Deputy Director of AED Md.Saiful Alan, Upazila Chairman Asia Slam and others dignified persons were also present on the occasion.
Later, Boro has been planted in Kishoreganj is 1.O9 hectares of land. This district has set a target of producing 7,111,580 metric tonses of rice this season.
