A good number of agricultural laborers are rushing to other parts of the country including Dhaka daily in search of work due to job crisis here.
In the Bangla month of Ashin and Kartik(October-November) job crisis for agricultural labourers prevail in this region including Kurigram district every year as lean period.
The harvesting of Aman paddy will begin in the mid time of the Bangla month of Agrahayan.
Finding no alternative way the agricultural laborers are rushing to other parts of the country including Dhaka city where they are doing job as hotel boy, hawker, rickshaw puller etc. A good number of labourers are crowding in Kurigram Bus Stand to go to Dhaka seeking job daily.
Talking to Abul Hossain 32, Mokbul 41,Jalil 43and Jabbar ali 50 of Kaliganj village under Nageswari upazila told that we are going to Dhaka for seeking job as we have no work in this lean period. But many laborers return home being frustrated as there is no sufficient job in towns too, said several farm labourers.
Chairman of Jatrapur Union Council under Kurigram Sadar Upazila told this correspondent that job crisis forced the laborers to go to others districts in search of job as there is no work in the lean period.
