Agriculture equipment were distributed among the farmers under a government subsidy project in Sherpur aimed to boost agricultural production in the district on Thursday.
Mohammad Zakir Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Sherpur, distributed the 30 power tillers and 10 power thatches machines among the 40 selected farmers of Lalitabari upazila at a function held in the premises of upazila parishad.
In a short speech, he said the government underlined the importance of adopting modern technology in agriculture sector aiming to boost food production to meet the growing demand as well as food security of the country.
He added that the government has allocated a total of 130 power tillers and 35 power thatches machines for the Sherpur district under the “government subsidy” project for boosting food production through scientific way.
The distribution ceremony was presided over by UNO Abu Sayeed Mollah. project director Mohammad Nazim Uddin, deputy director Dr. Mohammad Abdus Salam, public representatives and leaders of different political parties and elite of the upazila , among others, were present on the occasion.
