The speakers at a meeting of Bangladesh Institute of Labor Studies (BILS) expressed deep concern over the compelling to sign the labors of Alfa Textile Mills at Kalurghat on an illegal agreement.
The meeting was held at BILS conference hall at Enayet Bazar and chaired by the Director of BILS and Workers leader A M M Nazim Uddin.
Addressing the meeting Director of BILS Tapon Dutta expressed that the authority of Alfa Textile Mills at Kalurghat in Chittagong compelled the workers to sign an illegal agreement in presence of the officials of industrial police and factory inspector of Labor Directorate. It is illegal and damaging the right of laborers.
Central Secretary of BILS and Sramik League leader Shofor Ali said, the authorities of Alfa Textile Mills compelled the workers to sign an illegal agreement by the name of Participation Committee (PC). But, the laborers who signed on the agreement did not know about the PC and they signed on a blank paper in presence of the officials of industrial police and factory inspector of labor directorate.
The leaders of BILS condemned the incident of singing illegal agreement and demanded actions against the mills, industrial police officials and Ffactory inspector of labor directorate who were present at that time..
