An agreement was signed today between Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education(DSHE) and Agrani Bank Limited aiming to distribute stipends worth Taka 150 crore among three lakh students of poor family.
Director General of DSHE Prof Dr Md Wahiduzzaman and Deputy Managing Director of Agrani Bank Limited Md Ismail Hossain signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations at a simple ceremony in the conference room of the Education Ministry here.
Education Secretary Md Sohrab Hossain, Joint Programme Director of Secondary Education Sector Improvement Programme Abu Sayeed Sheikh and officials of the Education Ministry and the Agrani Bank Limited were present, among others, at the function.
The agreement was signed under Secondary Education Sector Improvement Programme to disburse Taka 150 crore among three lakh students of class six to class ten under 54 upazilas of 17 districts in the country.
Under the agreement, students will be paid their stipend money through their respective mobile accounts. Each student of class six to seven will get Taka 100 per month while student of class eight, nine and ten will get Taka 125, 170 and 210 respectively.
Besides, the students, who are getting stipend, will be given Taka 15 to 20 as tuition fee per month. Each examinee of SSC and equivalent levels will get Taka 750 as examination fee.
