The authorities of Agrani Bank on Tuesday cancelled the Friday morning session’s examination taken for the appointment at senior positions of the bank on charge of question papers leakage.
The bank administration before it cancelled the afternoon session of examination of the same day on similar allegation.
“We have found no evidence that the questions were leaked, but we have heard the media reports and have decided to cancel the examination,” said Chairman of Banking and Insurance Department of Dhaka University Professor Abu Taleb.
The department was in charge of organising the examinations.
Plans are now under process to hold the examination again, he added.
Approximately 203,000 took part in the recruitment examinations last Friday. About 100,000 applicants sat for the morning session’s examinations, but the afternoon session was cancelled over allegations that the questions had been leaked.
The online version of a newspaper posted a report about leaked questions before the morning examination session began at 10am. Many expressed their disappointment at the ‘leaked questions’ on social media.
The organisers then decided to cancel the afternoon session of examination, which were to start at 3:30pm.
Meanwhile, hundreds of applicants on Tuesday brought out a procession on the Dhaka University campus demanding cancellation of the examination and punishment to those who were involved in the question paper leakage.
Kamrul Hasan, an applicant, demanded identification of the culprits for justice saying that mere cancellation of examination was not enough.
