Govt employees in the port city staged demonstration and held rally in front of Chittagong Press Club at 12 noon yesterday to press home their demand 5-point demands .
The district branch of Bangladesh Govt Employees(3rd&4th class) Coordination Parishad arranged this action program as called by the central committee. President of district committee Md. Shahiduddin Kamal presided over the program .
The speakers in the rally called upon govt to implement their 5 point demands from July next. The demands are minimum salary of Tk. 18000 , fixation of salary in 10 grades, constitution of Pay and service commission, upgrading the posts in departments, directorates and other allied govt offices without any discriminations.
Among others, general secretary of Chittagong district Mobasser Hossain, joint secretary Yasin Arafat , SM Helaluddin spoke on the occasion, sources said.
Tourist killed in Bandarban road mishap: A tourist was killed and nine others injured as a microbus plunged into a roadside ditch in Shoiloprapat area in the district early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Kabir Hossain, a resident of Kakrail in Dhaka city.
Police said the accident took place when the microbus carrying ten tourists plunged into the roadside ditch early in the morning, leaving Kabir dead on the spot and nine others injured.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the dead body.
The injured were taken to Bandarban Sadar Hospital.
