The office works in the Chittagong Customs Office remained suspended for about 3 hours centring the feuds with the employees of Clearing & Forwarding Agent s Association on Thursday.
Commotion, discontents spread among the staff of C&F agents over the occupying the C&F agents office by the customs authority. The office of the C&F Agents Association in the customs house premises locked by the customs authority on Thursday afternoon. Centring the dispossession, the C&F officials and workers assembled infront of the customs house and enforced siege programs , as a result the works in the customs house remained suspected upto 5 pm .During the period of siege, the customs officials confined in their respective rooms.
While contacted President of C&FAA Enayetullah told that C&F workers are also playing important role in earning govt revenues and the customs house is our work place. In the customs house, one room is being used by the C&F staff since long which was locked by them unnoticed.
Additional commissioner of customs Moazzem Hossain told that one room in ground floor has been allotted to C&F Agents, beside that one room adjoining to computer server room in 2nd floor has been occupied by them . Despited repeated request they did not vacate the room , he said. After amicable settlement between the C&F agents and the customs authority, the works resumed after 3 hours, sources said.
