Staff Reporter :
The government has decided to raise the maximum age limit for government job by three years and three months, considering the Covid-19 fallout.
The public administration ministry said it in a circular issued on Thursday.
As per the circular, the increasing age limit will not be applicable for the highly competitive BCS exams held under the Public Service Commission.
As per the circular, if age of a candidate turns 30 years on March 25, 2020, he or she will be eligible to apply for government jobs advertised till June 2023.
They are eligible to apply at government offices including ministries, departments and subordinate offices, autonomous and nationalized institutions that were unable to issue recruitment circulars due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the circular said.
As per the Public Administration Ministry, the government offices could not publish any recruitment circular in recent months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
During this period, many aspirants have become ineligible for government jobs due to the prevailing age restrictions on entering the government jobs.
Normally, the maximum age limit for any government job for a general candidate is 30 years. Due to Covid-19 pandemic situation, the government relaxed the age limit twice before that.
Meanwhile, job seekers have been demanding the age limit for applying to government jobs to be 35 years instead of 30 for a long time.
