Police have detained 55 teenagers alleged involvement with various crimes in the Dhaka’s Hatirjheel Lake and surrounding areas.
Uniformed and plainclothes police conducted the operation from 4pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Police Headquarter Assistant Inspector General (AIG-media) Md Sohel Rana confirmed the matter on Thursday and said such kind of operation continuing.
Among 55 detainees, police found yaba from three. A case is filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act. Besides, action is being taken against 16 as per DMP Ordinance for causing mass harassment and unreasonable noise, he said.
And the remaining 37 have been given conditional custody to their guardian, he added.
Earlier, a person complained that some of the people who came to Hatirjheel were being harassed by teenagers on the official Facebook page of the Bangladesh Police which run by the Media and Public Relations Wing at the police headquarters on Tuesday.
