AG lauds ICT role against money laundering

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam lauded the development of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) of the country in anti-money laundering campaign.
The Attorney General said, “We have been able to know the stealing of reserve Bank’s money stealing by the grace of updated Information Technology of the country. The Philipine court has ordered to return $ 15.25 million. We hope that the remaining amount will also be returned.
Mahbubey Alam was speaking with the
reporters in his office at the Supreme Court Bhaban after his return from 19th International Conference of Asia-Pacific Group on money laundering held on September 5 to 8 in San Diego of the United States.
He said the conference was supposed to be held in Bangladesh, but the terror attack on the Gulshan Holey Artisan Restaurant and Sholakia changed the schedule.
He said, now the world community also is praising the country’s role in ICT sector, especially in conducting cases in tackling money laundering.
 “Bangladesh’s development in two indexes of APG inter-country legal assistance and intelligence surveillance regarding money laundering has also satisfied all,” the AG said.
 “Following the Philipino court order, all the legal obstacles in bringing back the stolen reserve have been removed,” he also said.
