Afif Hossain’s ton helps East Zone to dominate day two in BCL

17-years old south paw opener Afif Hossain continue his prolific form as he slammed 137 as East Zone dominated against South Zone day two of the four-day Bangladesh Cricket League held on Monday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
This was Afif’s second century in BCL as he scored 105 against North Zone on February 14 where he was adjudged as man of the match.
Resuming at 4 for no loss North Zone riding on Afif’s 137 and Tasamul Haque’s 98 saw them post 290 for 4 in their first innings.
Afif struck 17 boundaries during his 238-ball stay on the crease while Tasamul, fell on 98 being victim of nervous ninety, smashed six boundaries in his 231 balls stay at wickets.
Skipper Alok Kapali was batting on 26 when the stumps were drawn for the day.
Nazmul Islam Apu was the pick of the South Zone bowler as he returned with a figure of 2 for 69. Al Amin Hossain and Zia ur Rahman chipped in with wicket apiece.
Earlier on Sunday’s South Zone electing to bat, Imrul Kayes’s brilliant 136 and opener Anamul 58 saw them post 296 all out in 80 overs in their first innings.
Imrul Kayes scored his superb 136 runs off 210 balls and his innings was studded with eighteen glorious boundaries and two sixers.
Anamul Haque at the top looked in good nick but fell after scoring 58 aggressive runs off 73 deliveries laced with eight well timed boundaries and one sixer.
Saqlain Sajib was the leading East Zone bowler with three for 17. He was well supported by Mohammad Saifuddin with three for 70.
