Afghanistan levelled the ODI series 1-1 after beating Bangladesh by two wickets in the second ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh scored 208 off 49.2 overs.
In reply, Afghanistan reached the winning target making 212 for the loss of eight wickets when they had just two balls to spare.
Afghanistan had a poor start as they lost their early two wickets for 14 runs. Shakib Al Hasan dismissed Nawroz Mangal for 10 runs and then removed Rahmat Shah for naught.Later, opener Mohammad Shahzad and Hashmatullah Shahidi repaired the early damage adding together 45 runs for the third wicket stand. Shahidi was removed by Mosaddek Hossain for 14 runs.
Then Mohammad Shahzad was the victim of Shakib Al Hasan. He made a run-a-ball 35 featuring four fours and two sixes when Afghanistan’s score was 63 for the loss of four wickets.
Asghar Stanikzai and Mohammad Nabi put on together 107 runs for the fifth wicket stand before Mohammad Nabi was trapped leg before wicket by Mashrafe Bin Mortaza when the visitors’ total was 170 for the loss of five wickets.
Asghar Stanikzai hit 57 from 95 balls including four fours and two sixes while Mohammad Nabi made 49 off 61 balls with three fours and two sixes.
Later, Najibullah Jadran played a vital role scoring 22.
Dawlat Zadran anchored the winning spot hitting a boundary in the fourth ball of Taskin Ahmed.
Shakib Al Hasan captured four wickets instead of 47 runs while Mosaddek Hossain bagged two wickets for 30 runs.
Besides, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Taskin Ahmed took one wicket apiece.
