Afghanistan Cricket team arrived in the city on Wednesday to play three One Day International (ODI) matches against their counterpart Bangladesh Cricket team. ICC Associate nation Afghanistan arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 4:20 pm by a Jet Airways flight.
Before arrived in the city, Afghanistan Cricket team stayed in India for two weeks to adapt with the conditions of sub-continent.
All the three ODI matches will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur and all the matches will be Day/ Night Affairs.
Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan in the first ODI on September 25, face Afghanistan in the second ODI on September 28 and meet Afghanistan in the third ODI on October 1.
Besides, a BCB squad will play a practice one-day match against Afghanistan at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah tomorrow.
On their previous two ODI occasions, Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan
by 105 runs in the World Cup 2015, but lost to Afghanistan by 32 runs in their first match in Asia Cup in 2014.
With this series, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza-led Bangladesh will take the ground for ODI after around 10-months as the Tigers’ played the last ODI in November 11, 2015 at home against Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, BCB on Tuesday announced a 13-member BCB squad for the practice match against Afghanistan, including seven players — Imrul Kayes, Anamul Haque, Mossadek Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Subashis Roy, Mehedi Hasan and Alauddin Babu — from the 20-man national pool that has been selected for the series against Afghanistan and England.
The players of Afghanistan are: Asghar Stanikzai (Captain), Mohammad Shahzad (Wicketkeeper), Rahmat Shah, Mirwais Ashraf, Dawlat Zadran, Samiullah Shenwari, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Farid Ahmed, Amir Hamza, Najibullah Jadran, Nawroz Mangal, Nabhinul Haq, Karim Jannat, Shabir Noori and Ihsanullah Jannat.
Management Staffs: Abdul Wali Hamidullah (manager), Lalchand Sitaram Rajput (head coach), Rais Ahmadzai (assistant coach), Jason Michael Douglas (S & C Coach), Fazal Azeem Khurram Malik (physiotherapist), Mujahid Khan Zadran (fielding coach) and Muhammad Ehsan (masseur).
