Affluent people urged to stand by visually impaired persons

Speakers at a prize giving ceremony of an Islamic completion for visually impaired persons at Dhaka University (DU) on Monday urged the affluent section of society to stand by the visually impaired persons to help them make use of their latent talents.
Disable Education, Sports, Travel and Cultural Organization (DESTCO) organized the prize giving ceremony of completions in Quran recitation, Islamic songs and essay writing for the visually impaired people at DU Business Studies Faculty Auditorium on the campus marking the holy month of Ramadan, said a DU press release here today.
DU Pro Vice-Chancellor (academic) Professor Nasreen Ahmad addressed the function as chief guest.
Presided over by DESTCO President Md Mujibur Rahman, DU Islamic Studies Department Professor Masud Alam, Assistant Professor of Islamic History and Culture Department AKM Iftekharul Islam and Associate Editor of the Daily Prothom Alo Abdul Qaiyum spoke at the function, among others. DESTCO Secretary General Ali Hossain conducted it.
