AFC U-16 Women’s Championship begins today

The six-nation Group C matches of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship-2017 Qualifiers begin at Bangabandhu National Stadium here today (Saturday) with Bangladesh hoping to start their campaign as a favourite. Six teams — Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Singapore, Kyrgyzstan, Chinese Taipei and hosts Bangladesh — will participate in the Asian Junior Women’s meet. The hosts team, mostly studded with the players of AFC U-14 Women’s champions Bangladesh team, will start their campaign in the AFC Under-16 Women’s meet taking on Iran on the opening day (Saturday) at 6 pm. Earlier, Chinese Taipei will play the inaugural match against Kyrgyzstan at 11 am while the UAE will face Singapore at 3 pm in the opening day’s other fixture.State-owned Bangladesh Television will telecast all the matches live.All the foreign teams have already arrived in the capital to participate in the AFC junior meet from where the champion team will qualify for the final round.Meanwhile, the organiser has announced the rate of tickets for the tournament with VIP ticket at Tk 100 while the gallery ticket at Tk 50 each for all the three matches in a day.
