Asian Football Confederation (AFC) president Sheikh Salman Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa on Monday completed his list of engagements on his first official visit to Dhaka since being elected in 2013.
During his two-day visit, Salman met with Bangladesh Football Federation President (BFF) Kazi M Salahuddin, BFF senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy, vice-presidents Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Badal Roy and Tabith Awal, as well as other BFF executive committee members and officials. The AFC general secretary Dato’ Windsor John was present with Salman in all the occasions.
He also met with BFF women’s wing chairperson Mahfuza Akhter Kiron, and the Bangladesh Under-16 Women’s team along with head coach Golam Rabbani Choton.
BFF president Salahuddin shared his views and the current situation of Bangladesh football with the AFC president, who is also a vice-president of global football governing body FIFA.
Observing the popularity of football and the dedications of organizers in the country, Sheikh Salman expressed his satisfaction and assured AFC’s full support for the development of Bangladesh football as well as Asian football.
The AFC president and general secretary will leave Dhaka on Tuesday morning.
This is the first visit to Bangladesh by a top executive of world football since 2012 visit of Sepp Blatter, the disgraced former FIFA president.
