The recent overnight stay of a male student at Shamsunnahar Hall of Dhaka University has become a talk of the town.
The boy reportedly stayed at the hall with his long time “friend”, a resident of the hall on February 4, the day when the dormitory was open to visitors in connection with Puja festival. The boy reportedly spent the night at the old building of the hall.
Acting proctor Dr. AM Amzad confirming the incident told The New Nation that the accused girl was evicted from the hall last Wednesday. The allotment of the seat at the residential hall of the accused girl student has also been cancelled.
The matter became public following a quarrel over theft of shoes in two rooms of the hall and at one stage of the quarrel the matter was brought to the notice of hall provost and acting proctor.
They summoned the accused student and on the basis of witnesses the punitive steps were taken.
Meanwhile, seat allotment of another student of the hall who was engaged in a quarrel was also cancelled. She was also removed from the hall on Wednesday.
