Advance train, BRTC bus tickets sale begins

Bangladesh Railways (BR) and Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will start selling advance tickets to the Eid passengers from today (Sunday).
“The sale of train tickets will continue for five days from July 20. The selected railway stations are Kamalapur of Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Rangpur and Dinajpur,” Director General of Bangladesh Railways Md Tofazzel Hossain told The New Nation.
He said, apart from the sale of advance tickets, necessary measures for ‘special train service’ have been taken for the convenience of the Eid passengers, eager to go homes for offering Eid congregation.
Adequate security measures have also been taken for the safety of the ticket counters, he added.
Officials said tickets for the journey on July 24 will be available on July 20, tickets for July 25 will be available on July 21, tickets for July 26 will be sold on July 22, tickets for July 27 will be available on July 23 and advance tickets for July 28 will be sold on July 24.
They said each passenger will be allowed to procure maximum four tickets and tickets once sold will not be taken back.
The Indo-Bangla ‘Maitree Express Train between Dhaka-Kolkata- Dhaka will remain suspended on July 29 and 30, Railway sources said.
Meanwhile, BRTC will start selling its advance tickets for the homebound passengers from Sunday morning. The advance tickets will be available at Motijheel, Gazipur, Joarsahara, Uthali, Narayanganj, Double-decker and Kallyanpur depots of BRTC.
“The ‘Eid Special Service’ will begin from July 24. In total 900 new buses will be added with the present fleet of the BRTC in the capital and outside Dhaka,” BRTC Deputy General Manager (Operation) said.
He said all necessary steps have been taken to ensure a hassle- free journey for the homebound passengers.
