Private bus operators will start sale of advance tickets from May 30 for homebound people travelling to homes to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.
The decision was taken after discussion with the top officials of Bangladesh Bus Truck Owners Association, Faruk Talukdar Sohel, Chairman of the Association, said.
Every year, tens of thousands of people leave the capital Dhaka to celebrate Eid at homes. But their journey often turns bitter largely due to traffic jam, overcharging of tickets and delay in bus and train schedule.
Earlier, Bangladesh Railway decided to begin advance sale of train tickets from June 1.
Sales of return tickets will begin from June 10, Railway Minister Mazibul Hoque said recently. According to the schedule, tickets for June 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 will be available on June 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 respectively.
Besides, return tickets for June 19 will be available on June 10, for June 20 on June 11, for June 21 on June 12, for June 22 on June 13, for June 23 on June 14, and for June 24 on June 15.
