Engr. Mahbubur Rahman :
Whatever you have learnt is possible to teach the young children by their age of 12. Here, a suggestive Curriculum Guideline is proposed below for lower level of National Education System.
Key Components of an Education System
1. To define ‘Citizen’ the Country needs; i.e. Skilled, Observer, Thinker, Investigator, Problem solver, Innovator, Discoverer, Lifelong Learner, Ready to take challenges of globally rapid changes of science and technology and World competent leader.
2. To extend all the public university with additional faculty of ‘National Institute of Education (NIE)’ to produce a Professional Teaching Force with enough enrolment/year to meet the national demand.
3. Teaching and learning to begin from the nature around the children’s world and it should be through observations and, interactions & observations with cognitive system (mind processing).
4. Govt. to take care of education for the children from the age of 4 (already declared by MOE in January 2019).
5. Coaching Centre Issue: Simply, only ‘Quality Education’ can permanently keep away the children/parents/guardians from the coaching centres. i.e. to make the coaching centre business fail with the quality education.
6. Leakage Issue of Exam Paper: Also simply, ‘Quality Education’, moreover Risk identification Risk assessment Risk Evaluation Preventive control measures Administration and Micro management can prevent this ill activity.
7. Teaching Lessons: Education/Lessons should be school oriented i.e. Lessons must be taught in the class room and nothing should be left for home to learn from 2nd tutor other than homework for practice to develop children’s skills.
8. Pre-school to Primary 2 (ideally age 4 to 8): – No formal exam. Core subjects: i) Mother Tongue ii) English iii) Math iv) Science; and Additional Subjects: i) Physical Exercise ii) Co-curricular activities – Sports/ music/ drawing/arts & crafts iii) safety, health and environment.
9. Primary 3 to Primary 6: – Core subjects (Formal exam in two semesters only): i) Mother Tongue ii) English iii) Math iv) Science (physics, chemistry, biology) and Additional subjects (No formal exam but credit only): i) /Humanities (history, geography, sociology etc.). ii) Physical Exercise iii) Co-curricular activities – Sports/ music/ drawing/arts & crafts iii) safety, health and environment.
10) Level 7 to level 10: – Core subjects (Formal exam in two semesters only): i) Mother Tongue ii) English iii) Math iv) Physics v) Chemistry vi) Biology vii) Humanities (history, geography) and Additional subjects (No formal exam exams but credit only): i) Humanities (history, geography, sociology etc.) ii) Physical Exercise iii) Co-curricular activities – Sports/ music/ drawing/arts & crafts iii) safety, health and environment.
11) No educational institute/school can be set up without prior approval of Ministry of Education and Ministry of Education (MOE) to set up the guide lines/code for the operations of the institutes/schools. All the institutions should be monitored by MOE to ensure that they are complying MOE’s guide lines.
12) Pre-school, Primary school and secondary school should be well equipped with a Natural Laboratory and a conventional Laboratory.
13. Admission Test: Usually no admission test is required (ideally every student is qualified to get admission to their subject/institution of interest) but to consider T-score for their admission for a fair selection with fair ranking.
14) Text book should be more pictorial with minimum texts to make it more attractive and more impressive and to give the children an effect of visualization which can minimize the necessity of memorization.
15) Current ‘Srijonshil Prosno (creative questions)’ is NOT that at all. It’s time for MOE to think about to dump this fake attraction and replace with the right ones.
16) In any case Education must not be stressful rather to make it more interesting and more enjoyable for the children.
17) Case study of current incidents, accidents and risks for all over the institutions/schools in the country.
18) To target from year 2024 onward no teacher would be employed (for P3 to Level 10) without certificate from NIE.
19) Existing teaching force to train up enough in order to develop their skills to adapt with upcoming new changes of education system until the professional teaching force is ready to replace progressively.
20) Education-ready School environment: Healthy, Safe and pollution free campus with enough greeneries and it should be isolated with grill fencing from public movement, vehicles, amenities etc. as well.
21) Teaching Science to go along with relevant Technology.
22) Education should be more interactive and applied.
23) MOE to look into the Pronunciation for both Bangla and English. Dialect/Local language should have its own freedom.
24) To make children enough strong in language both Bangla and English.
25) To open department of Fire & Safety Engineering, and Traffic Engineering in the public university with enough enrolment.
