A mobile court here on Monday fined six people Tk 2.40 lakh for their involvement in making adulterated lozenges and electric cables without BSTI approval at Old Dhaka.
The mobile court, led by RAB headquarters executive magistrate AHM Anwar Pasha, conducted a drive at ” Mousomi Lozenge” factory at Hazratnagar of West Kamrangichar and detained factory owner Mohammad Ali and his brother-in-law Md Habibur Rahman for using harmful and toxic colour in making lozenges.
Later, the court fined Mohammad Ali Tk 25,000,
in default, to suffer one month jail, while Habibur Rahman Tk 10,000, in default to suffer one month jail.
The court also fined Kamrul Islam Tk 5,000 for making adulterated Laddu (one kind of sweetmeat) beside the lozenge factory.
The mobile court also conducted a drive at “Grameen Cable Industry” at West Jhauchar of Hazaribagh and detained three of its employees-Nazrul Islam, 45, Jahangir Alam, 40, and Laila Naznin Firoza, 30, for making cables without BSTI approval.
The court fined Nazrul Tk 1 lakh, in default, to suffer three months jail, Jahangir Alam Tk 50,000, in default to suffer two months jail and Firoza Tk 50,000, in default to suffer two months jail.
