HC orders: Admit Barrister Mainul to BSMMU immediately

The High Court (HC) on Thursday directed the government to immediately admit Barrister Mainul Hosein to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for treatment.
The HC Bench of Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order after hearing a petition filed by Barrister Mainul’s wife Saju Hosein.
At the same time, the court ordered the BSMMU authorities to submit a medical report in the court before discharging him from the medical university.
In the petition, Saju Hosein said that Barrister Mainul Hosein is physically ill and he needs treatment in a specialised hospital.
Earlier, the BSMMU authorities submitted a report in the HC saying that Mainul Hosein is physically ill, Advocate Masud Rana, a lawyer for Barrister Mainul, told The New Nation.
Barrister Mainul, an eminent lawyer, is now in Dhaka Central Jail, he added.
He is accused in 22 cases and has so far secured bail in six cases.
Senior Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain appeared in the court on behalf of Barrister Mainul Hosein. Advocate Bipul Bagmer, Advocate Abdur Rahim, Advocate Monjur Kader and Advocate Masud Rana were present in the court during the hearing.
A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police on October 22 arrested Barrister Mainul Hosein from Dhaka in a case filed in Rangpur Court.
