RU Correspondent :
The authorities of Rajshahi University have decided to reinstate the facility of appearing at its admission tests for second times from the upcoming 2017-18 academic session.
The decision was taken at the meeting of admission committee held on Thursday afternoon at the university senate building with RU vice chancellor Professor M Abdus Sobhan in the chair, said RU registrar Professor Dr MA Bari.
Earlier in last academic session, the RU authorities allowed only the freshly passed HSC students to appear at its admission tests.
Professor Bari told New Nation that some changes about the qualifications of the students for applying at the university were also made at the admission-committee meeting.
“Students for A unit (arts faculty) would have to get total GPA 7 in SSC and HSC from science or humanities or business studies while the previous GPA was 7.50. Students for D unit (business studies faculty) have to get GPA 7.50 while GPA 8 would be needed for C unit (science faculty)”, he said.
Quota facilities for the descendants (grand son and grand daughter) of the freedom fighters would also be available, he also said.
Professor Dr MA Bari said that considering the overall facilities of poor and meritorious students who cannot sit for the admission test for several difficulties, the members of the admission committee came to the solution of allowing students to sit at the university’s admission tests for second times.
Meanwhile, the online application processes for the first year honours courses under 2017-2018 academic sessions at RU will begin from September 10 and would continue till September 24, Professor Khademul Islam Molla, director of RU computer center confirmed.
The admission tests would be held from October 22 to 26.
