Extra supervision would be taken at all launch terminals across the country during the Eid days to avert any untoward incident like Pinak-6 tragedy, Shipping Ministry sources said.
The Shipping Ministry has already started to take preparations to make the water route safe with the co-operation of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and law enforcing agencies.
The ministry organised a meeting on Sunday at a hotel in the capital in this regard.
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan, the officials of BIWTA, members of law enforcing agencies and leaders of labour
organisation were present at the meeting.
The labour leaders alleged in the meeting that the terminal authorities collect extra money from the launches by not maintaining any serial.
