Speakers at a training session have underscored the need for adequate income-generating training for the unemployed youths of the poor and marginzalised faming families for their self-reliance besides transforming them in to social contributors.
They viewed despite of their strong will many of the youths in the drought-prone barind areas comprising Rajshahi and Chapainawabgonj districts couldn’t become income-generators due to lack of proper and time-fitting vocational training.
Agriculture Sustainable and Socio-Economic Development Organization (ASSEDO) initiated the 15-day training on wall painting and tiles fitting for some youths at its Tanore Upazila office training room on Sunday.
Promoting Food Security and Livelihoods of Marginalized People of Barind Tract (PFLMB) Project supported the training course with financial support from Oxfam-Novib.
Tanore Upazila Nirbahi Officer Muniruzzaman Bhuiyan addressed the inaugural session as chief guest while Upazila Youth Development Officer Anisuzzaman and ASSEDO Executive Director Agriculturist Rabiul Alam spoke as special guests with PFLMB Project Manager Mahbub Jaman Tapan in the chair.
Wall Painting Trainer Sazzad Ahmed, Tiles Fitting Trainer Abu Bakkar and PFLMB Project Technical Officer (Monitoring) Muktar Hossain and Field Facilitators Kismat Ara and Sagar Ali also spoke.
In phases, more than 50 interested youths both boys and girls age group between 16 and 24 coming from poor and most vulnerable target families will be brought under the training course on different vocations for their self-employment, the opening session mentioned.
After successful completion of the course, each of the trainees will get income-generating devices valued at around Taka 5,000
