The launching ceremony of “ADDA in English”, an extracurricular activity of Southeast University (SEU), was held at the Seminar Hall at its main campus, Banani in the capital recently. Department of English of SEU launched this innovative forum, which is an open, informal forum for students to come and express themselves in English.
Vice Chancellor of SEU Prof Dr Anwar Hossain was present at the program as chief guest, while Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md Humayun Kabir Chowdhury was present as special guest. Dean (Acting) of school of Arts and Social Sciences Prof Dr Md Abdul Hakim chaired the program and Chairman of Department of English Harunur Rashid Khan delevered welcome address.
Giving stress on the ability of public addressing, speakers at the program said, speaking in public is difficult but it is important for all. Mentioning Adda in English as “Peer Learning”, speakers said, such forums are needed for students aimed at giving opportunity to speak in English which is not possible in a classroom scenario.
