Vice President of Asian Development Bank (ADB) Wencai Zhang visited Ishwardi Export Promotion Zone and said ADB is looking forward to extend cooperation to Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA).
“I am very pleased to visit Ishwardi EPZ. I believe that BEPZA will contribute more in the socioeconomic development of Bangladesh”, he said.
Md. Mosaddeque Ali, Member (Engineering) of BEPZA briefed ADB Vice President about the overall scenarios of BEPZA during his visit, said a BEPZA press release.
Ali said the present government is working to implement vision 2021 which needs higher economic growth and BEPZA is a proud partner in implementing the vision.
He sought ADB’s cooperation in infrastructure development, setting up power plant and CETP in industrial enclave under BEPZA. He also requested ADB to facilitate in skills development and training for EPZs’ workers and employees.
Ruhul Amin, General Manager of Ishwardi EPZ, said 4,61,513 workers have been employed in 463 operating enterprises of country’s eight EPZs.
Later, the ADB Vice President went round Bangladeshi garments industry Vintage Denim Studio Ltd., the first LEED Platinum certified factory in Bangladesh.
Wencai Zhang was accompanied by ADB’s Country Director Kazuhiko Higuchi and Deputy Country Director Cai Li.
